FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do you only offer full charters?
After you’ve inquired about a charter jet, you’ll be assigned a personal charter specialist. This person will send you a selection of quotes to choose from, each of which will have a clear breakdown of aircraft and airports as well as the reasons they’ve been chosen for you. If you want to go ahead, your account manager will make the bookings and send you the flight details. This includes directions to the terminal and any other important information to do with your charter.
Your personal account manager is your go-to person for any questions or requests you have up to the flight and, if possible, they’ll meet you at the terminal to see you off. Throughout the process, they’ll be contactable 24/7, and you can call from anywhere, whenever you like – that’s how easy it can be to rent a private jet!
No. Where a full charter isn’t the best option, we can offer a part-charter. As well as this, via our in-house team, we can offer hand-carries / on board couriers, customs clearance and trucking services to connect to and from the airport.
Will other cargo be onboard?
Your dedicated account manager will narrow down your best options from the many aircraft available to you. When helping you to make your final choice, we always base our advice on your needs for that specific trip. You can take a look at our aircraft guide for more information.
As our full charters are bespoke, it is very unlikely that there would be other cargo onboard. Should you require that no other cargo is onboard, please make your broker aware.
What does the price include?
This depends on the class of jet. Typically, Heavy Jets, Super Midsize Jets and Midsize Jets fly at speeds from 400 to 500 mph, Light Jets around 400 to 480 mph, and Turboprops at 220 to 315 mph. But keep in mind when choosing a charter jet, that the speed of an aircraft can be affected by things like headwinds, jet streams, altitude, flight turbulence, weather conditions, and the number of passengers and baggage onboard.
As the very minimum, our quoted price will always include the aircraft, crew, fuel, ground handling and aircraft insurance. Full details of inclusions/exclusions can vary from charter to charter and will be made clear on your quotation.
Is it possible to move live animals on a charter?
Heavy jets are designed to carry as many people and as much baggage as possible over longer distances. Used mainly for international travel, the average range of a Heavy Jet is 7,000 miles or eight hours of nonstop flying time.
Midsize Jets are a good choice if you want to fly 2,450 miles – that would be the equivalent of flying from New York to Los Angeles in less than five hours without having to stop to refuel. But keep in mind that the distance an aircraft can fly depends on a number of things like payload which includes the number of passengers and baggage onboard as well as the amount of fuel carried and wind and weather conditions.
Light jets that usually seat four to eight people, are a luxurious way to travel distances of up to 1,500 miles before having to refuel, or three to four hours of flying time. Turboprops are especially cost-efficient over distances of 600 to 1,000 miles.
Yes. We regularly fly animals on board charters – from pets on a private jet to a herd of cattle on a dedicated cargo charter.
What are royalty and non objection fees?
We will let you know how much the hold can take on the aircraft you’ve chosen. You will be able to upgrade if you need more space. Usually, you would be able to take more baggage with you on a private aircraft rental than on a commercial airline. You might need to upgrade if taking onboard items like golf clubs or skis.
These are fees charged by either the civil aviation authority or a domestic airline in the course of securing traffic rights for a specific country. They are not charged by all countries and if they are likely to appear as an extra charge your broker will make you aware in case your charter is flying to or from a country where royalties could be applicable.
How do I know the aircraft I charter is fully insured and airworthy?
When using private terminals, you can check in much closer to take-off than on a commercial airline flight. Sometimes you can arrive just 15 minutes before your airplane is due to depart, and in some cases you can be driven directly to the aircraft for boarding.
PJC has an in-house compliance team, who hold on file the third party insurance certificate and air operators certificate (AOC) of every airline that PJC uses for its charters.
As well as this, the sales team use a custom-built system that alerts them before an offer is made to a client in any case where the aircraft is missing documents, or if they have expired.
Are cargo attendants permitted to travel onboard charters?
Yes, although there are rules when flying into or out of the Canada with a companion animal. They will need a pet passport as well as being microchipped, and their rabies vaccinations must be up-to-date. A private air charter is one of the kindest ways to transport your pet from one destination to another.
In general, yes they are. However, this is always subject to the approval of the airline.
Should you require a cargo attendant to accompany your cargo, please talk to your broker and they can check with the airline – or find an alternative charter option that facilitates your needs.
Can you help with trucking / customs?
The cost of a private plane rental depends on the distance you travel and the aircraft you’ve chosen. A short 40-minute flight in a small plane could cost around $2,800, while the price of a 1.5-hour flight in a Midsize Jet will be closer to $34,500. As the size of jet and flight times increase, how much you’ll pay to rent a private jet will also increase.
PJC has two dedicated trucking teams located in Germany and the United States that can assist with arranging ground transportation on either end of the charter. PJC is not a customs broker, however we have agents all over the world that we can rely on to assist with the customs process and we are happy to introduce our clients to these agents when needed.
